“For What It’s Worth”

Admit it, you’ve been there. I’ve been there. We’ve all been there.

Where exactly?

Wallowing in self-doubt. Wondering why you’re “not worthy” of ____________________.

Go ahead, fill in the blank.  Take your time. I can wait.

Welcome back.

I want to tell you about a song we sing at the church I attend. It was written  by one of the music worship team leaders. It contains the following lines (or a close approximation of them):

“You are worthy of our heart.”

“You are worthy of our praise.”

“You are are worthy of our love.”

“You are worthy.”

Indeed, God IS worthy of all of these.

worthy

We’ve been singing this song for several months and then one Sunday, “it just hit me”.

What “just hit me”?

Change the “You” to “I” and “our” to “your” and the song becomes:

“I am worthy of your heart.”

“I am worthy of your praise.”

“I am worthy of your love.”

“I am worthy.”

Powerful, right? I am worthy of not only God’s heart & praise, but of His love too! If you doubt just how valuable you are to God, go read  Matthew 10:30 and Luke 12:7. And for good measure , you just might want to read John 3:16 as well.

God really cares deeply about you, down to the hairs on your head; which I think is amazing.  Think about that. The hairs on your head. How does it make you feel?

Now, consider the fact that He gave his only begotten Son to die for you so you would not perish, but have eternal life.  Kinda mind-blowing, isn’t it?

These are just two of the many examples illustrating how valuable you are to God.

So, if you’re “good enough” for God, why is it you think you’re not “good enough” for everyone else? Why are you struggling with feeling non-worthy? Believe in yourself like God believes in you! God believes in you so very much He desires to pour His blessings on you. He desires to supply all your needs. He desires to be your shelter in the storm.

All you have to do is ask. So, ask!

What is the area of your greatest need?  Have ya taken it to God, because, ya know, He can help there.

What are some other areas in which you need a nudge, shove or kick-in-the-pants? I’m pretty certain He can help with those too!

You are worthy because God says you are worthy. That’s all there is to it. That’s all you need to know.

God’s waiting to hear from you.

How long are you going to make Him wait?

I love words & enjoy the freedom of writing. I strive to find the exact word to convey not only my thoughts, but also my feelings. I desire to fill the paper with words much the same way an artist fills the canvas with paint. To me, writing is an art form.

  1. Worthy..in and if ourselves we are NOT worthy. We are only worthy because GOD made us that way when Jesus took our sin upon himself on the cross and died in our place. There is no spark of goodness in us whatsoever without God. We have all been saved by Jesus death and resurrection. It becomes ours when we are given the gift of faith by the Holy Spirit. We are worthy because HE made us worthy.
